Immigration Psychological Evaluation In Orange County

What Is An Immigration Psychological Evaluation?

An immigration psychological evaluation is a confidential, formal psychological assessment that supports an immigration-related legal case. It gives space to talk about how your experiences have affected you emotionally and psychologically, especially when your story includes trauma, hardship, or long periods of stress or anxiety tied to the immigration process.

During the evaluation, we take time to understand your background, what you’ve lived through, and how those experiences continue to show up in your daily life. There is no test you need to pass. This is about listening carefully and documenting your experiences clearly and accurately.

The written report explains these findings in a professional way that attorneys can submit to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services or immigration court as part of your case. It connects your lived experiences to their emotional and psychological impact, using clinical language that decision-makers understand.

Evaluations are trauma-informed, which means we pay close attention to pacing, safety, and respect. They are also objective and grounded in ethical and professional standards, so your story is handled thoughtfully and with care from start to finish.

Immigration psychological evaluations may be helpful if you:

Evaluations are conducted with care for your background, culture, and lived experience.

Types of Immigration Evaluations We Offer

This evaluation supports individuals seeking asylum who are afraid to return to their country of origin. Many people pursuing asylum have lived through persecution, violence, threats, or ongoing fear tied to their identity, beliefs, or circumstances.

The evaluation focuses on how these experiences have affected you emotionally and psychologically, and how that fear continues to show up in your daily life. Your experiences are documented clearly and carefully to support your asylum claim.

VAWA evaluations support petitions under the Violence Against Women Act for individuals who have experienced domestic violence or abuse by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse or family member.

This evaluation documents the emotional and psychological impact of abuse, including fear, control, trauma, and long-term stress. It can allow an immigrant survivor to pursue legal protection and legal status without the involvement or knowledge of the abusive partner.

A U-Visa evaluation may be used when an individual has been the victim of a qualifying crime in the United States and has experienced significant emotional or psychological harm.

This assessment looks at how the crime has affected your mental health, daily functioning, and sense of safety. Your experiences are described in clear clinical language that can support a U-Visa application.

A T-Visa evaluation is completed for individuals who are survivors of human trafficking. This psychological assessment documents the emotional and mental health effects of trafficking, including trauma, fear, anxiety, depression, or symptoms related to PTSD.

Your evaluation reflects how trafficking has impacted your well-being and why protection and stability in the United States are important for your safety and recovery.

These evaluations document emotional and psychological hardship to qualifying family members, such as a spouse, child, or parent.

The assessment focuses on how separation, relocation, or loss of stability would affect your loved ones’ emotional health and daily functioning. This helps your family’s experience be clearly understood in the legal process.

Competency assessments are completed when there are concerns about a person’s ability to understand or participate meaningfully in immigration proceedings.

This evaluation looks at cognitive functioning, mental health symptoms, and overall capacity to take part in the legal process, so appropriate supports can be considered if needed.

Each evaluation is tailored to your situation and your story, with care taken to reflect your experiences clearly and respectfully.

How An Immigration Psychological Evaluation Can Support You

An immigration psychological evaluation isn’t therapy, and it’s not meant to fix everything you’ve been carrying. Its purpose is to document your experiences clearly and professionally in a way that supports your legal case.
That said, many people find that being heard and having their story handled with care can bring a sense of clarity and relief during a stressful process.

As you move through the evaluation, you may notice that you:

This process is designed to be careful, respectful, and steady, so your story is documented in a way that reflects what you’ve lived through.

How Immigration Psychological Evaluations Work

Free consultation

We start with a complimentary 15-minute consultation call. During this time, we talk through the type of immigration evaluation you need, review fees, and walk you through the full process step by step. You’ll have space to ask questions and get a feel for what to expect before deciding how you want to move forward.

If you choose to proceed, we schedule the evaluation. This can be done in person or through telehealth. The session is a comprehensive clinical assessment and typically lasts about three hours.

During this time, we review your personal history, including family, work, medical, and mental health background. We move at a pace that feels manageable and take care to approach sensitive topics thoughtfully.

In some cases, diagnostic information is included as part of the evaluation. If this comes up, we take time to explain what it means and why it may be relevant to your report. You are always welcome to ask questions along the way.

Before finalizing the report, we may consult with your attorney or legal team to gather any additional context needed. This helps ensure the evaluation is accurate, thorough, and aligned with the legal purpose of your case.
